Kaitlyn

Elementary School Student

After fourth grader Kaitlyn Palmer attended her local public school online during COVID-19, her family decided that while they appreciated the online format, they also wanted a different kind of virtual learning. They wanted an online school where she could more easily connect with her teachers and make friends. After much research, they enrolled Kaitlyn in Utah Connections Academy, where she’s been a student for four years.

The Online School Experience at Utah Connections Academy

According to Kaitlyn, “This school has a flow and schedule that work really well, and it’s nice knowing what’s going to be happening for the day. I like that I can work ahead if need to and take an extra dance break. When we have questions about a subject, I’m able to email my teacher and she responds with either an email, a phone call, or even a video explanation—and all the teachers are always so nice!

“My favorite subject is i-Ready® because it’s fun, and I like to play the games. My favorite club is Minecraft club, because I love to play Minecraft and get together with kids in my school and play. We create these fantastic places together and I’ve made so many friends because of it!

“My teachers are really nice and easy to talk with. I enjoy seeing them in class every day. They always take time to get to know each of us. My favorite experience so far has been the Gimkit field trip. The entire school got together and played Gimkits in real life, outside, not on a computer.

“I love Utah Connections Academy because the teachers are so incredibly nice, and it’s amazing to attend these clubs with my classmates!”
