Sophie

Elementary School Student

A third grader at our school, Sophie Palmer wanted to attend a public school where she could make friends. Her family wanted an online school that followed state guidelines, a teacher Sophie could see and talk to, and classmates she could chat with every day. They enrolled her in Utah Connections Academy and are thrilled.

The Online School Experience at Utah Connections Academy

Reports Sophie, “My favorite subject is technology because I like working in Microsoft PowerPoint and learning new tricks. My favorite club is Math club. I really like playing Gimkits and love to win against the teachers.

“My teachers are really kind and make things fun! One of them played games with us at the end of each lesson and wasn’t afraid to tease us. She was really good at making sure we were paying attention during LiveLesson® sessions.

“My favorite thing in school so far is going on a field trip to the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum. It was so much fun to learn and play with my classmates. It felt like the best vacation ever, but it was a field trip!”

“What I like most about Utah Connections Academy is how nice the teachers are, and the clubs are literally the best thing I’ve ever experienced!”

Hobbies and Interests

“I like to go to the library because it’s really fun,” says Sophie. “I love to sit and read books and play computer games. I also love ballet and have a friend I get to see. We schedule our library and dance days each week, so we know what to expect and know when we need to be finished with school.”

Day in the Life of Sophie

Throughout the day, Sophie is busy working hard and having fun. She enjoys her online classes, her teachers, her schoolmates, and the school clubs she belongs to. Also, she enjoys the free time she has to take dance lessons and go to the local library.
